Zephyrhills was officially founded in March of 1910 and incorporated in 1914. In 1999, the City of Zephyrhills conducted a city-wide historic resources survey, finding over 440 resources. Through information obtained in the survey, a historic district was created.

The Building/Code Enforcement Department issues residential and commercial permits to the property owners and business owners of the City of Zephyrhills. It also advises applicants about the permitting process, and provides information for all types of customer questions and requests.
