Cal Fire arrested a man Friday on suspicion of arson related to the recent Lilac and Pala wildfires, officials said. The 48-year-old man was arrested by Cal Fire Law Enforcement Investigators who were examining the cause of two fires that ignited on Jan. 21., officials said.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Cal Fire announced the arrest of Ruben Vasquez on multiple felony arson charges for allegedly starting both the Pala and Lilac fires on January 21.
An affidavit filed by a Cal Fire investigator late last month in support of a warrant to arrest Vasquez lays out some of the evidence — including witnesses and cellphone data — that helped lead investigators to a suspect. Gochnour also laid out some of the evidence during the arraignment.
