Rachel Maddow made the remark while discussing the removal of references to trans people from the Park Service's Stonewall National Monument page

The National Parks Service removed all references to transgender people on its website about the Stonewall Inn National Monument this week.

References to transgender people have been removed from a National Park Service website for the Stonewall National Monument.

“Stonewall would not be Stonewall without the T,” trans demonstrator Chloe Elentari told Salon. “National Park Service: You can’t spell history without a T,” one sign read. Another demonstrator wrote the word “transgender” on a sign noting the monument.

The National Parks Service removed all references to trans people on the Stonewall monument's webpage, but the riots wouldn't have occurred without them.

Despite the ACLU crediting the Stonewall Rebellion to transgender women of color, most traces of trans and queer people were removed from the National Park website.
