Some popular acne creams are being recalled because the product may contain elevated levels of benzene, a chemical that causes cancer, the FDA said.
The FDA tested 95 products containing benzoyl peroxide, an ingredient widely used to treat acne that can form benzene as a byproduct. It found that six products could have more benzene than usual.
This week saw four large-scale recalls over a range of issues, from chemical concerns to foreign material contamination.
