Although the Mexico Open goes back to the 1940s and has been won in the past by World Golf Hall of Fame players such as Lee Trevino, Roberto De Vicenzo, Ben Crenshaw, Tony Lema and Bobby Locke, it’s only been a sanctioned PGA Tour event and played at VidantaWorld in Vallarta since 2022.

The Mexico Open's highest-ranked player withdrew before the tournament started, leaving no player currently ranked inside the top 25 in the field.
