Nepali students return home after alleged suicide at Odisha university, sparking protests and diplomatic resolution.

The Nepalese government warned yesterday, Tuesday, January 18, that if the situation surrounding the death of a student at a Bhubaneswar university is not resolved properly and legally, it may discontinue granting no-objection certificates to students seeking to study in educational establishments in India's Odisha.

In response to mounting pressure, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assured Nepali officials Sanjeeb Das Sharma and Navin Raj Adhik

The Indian Embassy in Nepal said ‘reports of misconduct against students are being investigated and those responsible will be held accountable as per the law’.

Following massive protests by students, five staffers, including three directors and two security guards, were arrested in connection with the suicide of a Nepali student at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar.
