Hank Azaria expressed fear to The New York Times that artificial intelligence could soon replace him as the voice of several characters on “The Simpsons,” on which he’s been a voice actor since 1989.

At the very least, The Simpsons doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon, and it’s likely the show wouldn’t want to replace any of the voice actors with AI. Fans will just have to remain positive that Hank Azaria and the rest of the cast will be able to stay on for as long as possible and that AI won’t be taking over their jobs.

Actor Hank Azaria has stepped up onto The New York Time’ s op-ed soapbox, sharing the stage with nine of his vocal characterizations from his 36 years of voice work for The Simpsons, in an entertaining interactive essay that makes an argument for why his voice acting gigs can’t easily be replaced by artificial intelligence.

Azaria voices bartender Moe, Chief Wiggum and Comic Book Guy, among others, on the long-running animated comedy.
