Funk legend George Clinton has taken legal action against his former associate Armen Boladian and his company, Bridgeport Music, accusing them of fraudulently acquiring copyrights to the majority of his music catalog.

The acclaimed music pioneer, whose works are among the most-sampled in hip hop, claims a former business partner, Armen Boladian, used lies and deception to steal some 90% of Clinton’s catalog. A lawyer for Boladian said Clinton’s claims will not hold up in court.
